December 2003 --
This is a 'quick' little project that really needed doing.
A lot of C&C's have amidships deck drains
that go down under the waterline to sea cocks.
I pulled the old 22 year old hoses during
the July Haulout, but didn't replace them at the time. With the California winter rains here,
they need to be draining.
Just plugging them worked through the summer,
but now they're developing a mildew problem.
Rather than run hose down below the waterline, I added Marelon through hull fittings right under the rails.
This just seems to make more sense to me. It's two less hoses below the waterline, and I don't have to leave sea cocks open.
I ran the hoses
aft a bit,
so they drain back where the topsides start to shear back.
I hope that this will avoid dirty streaks down the topsides.
Here's the Starboard side.
It ain't pretty, but it works.
(I haven't tightened up that tie wrap because there is more wire to pull through here.)
